As the new year begins, these two phrases often make their rounds. As I reflect on the year ahead, I find that a little of both resonate with me. At my core, I am still me—my values, my “bones,” remain steadfast. But how those values manifest in my life can evolve. Personal growth, whether intentional or unintentional, can sometimes give the impression of a “new me.” In truth, it’s more an ongoing journey toward an improved version of myself.
Setting Intentions for Positive Change
Whether you’re setting a New Year’s resolution, a clear intention, or practicing a sankalpa (a Sanskrit term for a heartfelt resolve), the goal remains the same: to foster positive transformation. The key is to approach these changes with intention.
Here are a few tips to guide your process:
- Be Realistic: Choose changes or goals that align with your life and priorities.
- Set Timelines: Break your goals into manageable steps with timeframes that work for you.
- Find Accountability: Partner with someone who can help you stay motivated, focused, and grounded as you work toward your aspirations.
Emerging from Hibernation
This winter, I’m embracing a season of rest, reflection, and study. I’m intentionally nurturing my practices and preparing for a fresh start. When spring arrives, I plan to emerge like a butterfly shedding its chrysalis—ready to spread my wings and soar to new heights.
And I’d love to help you do the same!
As you embark on your journey of growth and transformation, remember: you are already whole, but with intention and effort, you can refine and elevate the ways your values show up in your life. Let’s step into this new year together, ready to honor who we are and who we’re becoming.
